This presentation by Steven Piepgrass, the Chief Operations Officer of HTEC, will provide an update on the role of Hydrogen in BC. In this challenging climate what is the role for Hydrogen?
Our presenter is Steven Piepgrass P.Eng., MBA, Chief Operations Officer, HTEC.
Steven is a chemical engineer with over 20 years of experience across the energy sector, including natural gas utilities, gas midstream, and renewable energy. He recently made the move from Calgary to Vancouver, shifting from renewable natural gas to clean hydrogen by joining HTEC, a leading Canadian hydrogen company driving the energy transition forward. As Chief Operating Officer, he oversees engineering, construction, operations, and project execution across hydrogen production, fueling stations, and logistics infrastructure—helping scale hydrogen adoption in both light- and heavy-duty transportation sectors.
Prior to HTEC, Steven was Vice President of Construction at Green Impact Partners, where he led the successful build-out of two RNG facilities in Colorado. He also played a key role in the development of a major low-carbon fuels project in Calgary—an ethanol production and RNG integration megaproject that reflects the scale and ambition needed to drive meaningful emissions reductions.
Steven has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA in Global Energy from the University of Calgary.
